Possible New Horses

According to Rick Smith, owner of Coyote Creek, the state of the economy means that the demand for horses has dropped, and thus the prices as well. He has several fine horses that he's willing to just give us if we'll give them a good home. Matthew Romney also has a neighbor looking to sell two horses. Those two are listed first (if a price is not listed, no purchase price is being asked):

3-year-old Paint

Gelding

$1500

Well-broken, Kid Horse, still a pup and growing

8-year-old Quarter

Mare

$500

Well-broken, appropriate for "experienced rider"

Dougie

10-12-year-old Arab

Gelding

Customer's Horse, likely willing to give to a good home

R.C.

14-year-old Arab

Gelding

Ideal Kid Horse

Parker

13-year-old Arab

Gelding

Belongs to customer who

wants to find him a good home

Fancy Girl

7-year-old Arab

Mare

$500

Has had five years of training, $8k put into her, had siblings

sell for $60k and $15k, so gentle you could ride

her without a bridle, would breed well

Pontoon

22-year-old Arab

Mare

Purchased in 1994 for $20k

The following pictures are for information only!!

This is a 24-year-old Clydesdale gelding and Rick was showing
me that older horses, even when well-fed, have a hard
time keeping weight on up top. Here you can see Clyde's
pelvic bones sticking out, even though he has plenty of feed.
This is an 8-year-old Walker/Paint mare. Notice her pelvic
bones do not stick out the way Clyde's does.
This sad little gal is a 26-year-old mare named Ellen.
She produced two national champions, but was neglected
by a friend of Rick's who was caring for her, or rather not
caring for her. Rick will be putting her down soon. :(
Rick encouraged us to not put our horses through the
pains of old age based solely on emotional attachment.
On a very happy note, this gelding is being sold for $4,000
so I didn't even consider him for the ranch, but his name
is A Boy Named Sue and he belongs to Rick's wife. I took
a picture of him because I had never before seen a "perfect
doll horse." We played with toy horses while at the ranch
growing up, but I had never seen one with such a light coat
and dark mane in real life. He's such a beauty!
